Notes written by Thierry Brouin
After a nice summer profitable for the development of the vine, the beginning of September was very rainy and warm and we therefore had to start the harvest quite early. The maturities in sugar and phenol were of good quality, but the yield was only 26 hl/ha, which is somewhat tiny. The 2006's wines have a very good tannic structure, and a very intense colour ; the acidity, without being too proeminent, is quite sufficient, and this gives a very good balance without any agressivity. To drink in 2 or 3 years and to keep 10 to 15 years.
Burghound January 2009
(produced from two large parcels of differing vine age - one that is approximately two-thirds of the blend and is now 45 years of age and a second, smaller group of vines that is approximately 20+ years of age).
Not surprisingly, this is more elegant, more refined, more complex and more complete though perhaps less than one might have expected. A moderately red berry fruit nose with earth, stone and spice undertones introduces sappy and mouth coating flavors that possess good if not special concentration and dry extract on the moderately long and slighty warm finish. In sum, 2006 is a perfectly good vintage for the Clos des Lambrays but not a truly distinguished one. 91 / 2014+

Visual aspect: a black-cherry colour with radiant concentrated tinges.
Nose: discreet and stylish, revealing ripe fruitiness on aromas of raspberry and blckberry along with well mingled woodiness.
Palate: well structured on the first taste: full bodied with ripe, delicate tannins. Fresh on the finish on young fruitiness and excellent length.
Match with food: boneless, rolled fillet of lamb with herbs.
Comment: a superior wine on a par with what we expect from this domain.
